At the opening of the 29th ASOEN Meeting on 15 August 2018, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, spoke on three ways for ASEAN to continue the journey towards sustainability: (i) Embracing a circular economy; (ii) Strengthening ASEAN institutions; and (iii) Deepening cooperation and preserving the principle of consensus.

SGBC Leadership Conversations 2018
Mr Masagos Zulkifli participated in the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) Leadership Conversations on 2 Aug 2018, where he shared Singapore’s approach to a sustainable future, and the importance of collective action in shaping the future. Organisations and individuals were also encouraged to commit to do more for the environment, starting with a Climate Action Pledge.
Women for Climate Action
At the ‘Women for Climate Action’ event on 5 August 2018, a record was set for the most number of people pledging to be environmentally conscious. Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources, spoke on women’s important role in encouraging climate action - as influencers and change makers of families’ lifestyles and practices.
