Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu to attend the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-26) in Glasgow, UK
1 Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment will be in Glasgow, the UK, from 7 to 13 November 2021, to attend the High-Level Segment of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP-26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its associated meetings.
2 At COP-26, countries will discuss ways to strengthen the momentum of global climate action, scale up support and climate finance for developing countries, and enhance adaptation actions. Countries are also expected to finalise the guidance for operationalising Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which remains an unresolved issue under the Paris Agreement Work Programme.
3 At the invitation of UK COP-26 President Alok Sharma, Minister Fu, together with her Norwegian counterpart, will continue to co-facilitate ministerial consultations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This article sets out provisions for cooperative mechanisms towards emission reduction, such as carbon markets.
4 Minister Fu will deliver Singapore's National Statement, attend high-level events, and hold meetings with her counterparts and other key personalities. Minister Fu will be accompanied by officials from agencies in the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change.
