Visit by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Grace Fu, to Tokyo from 28 to 31 August 2023

Singapore, 27 August 2023 – Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu will visit Tokyo, Japan from 28 August to 31 August 2023. Minister Fu will meet Minister of Environment Akihiro Nishimura following which a Joint Statement on climate and environment cooperation will be issued. Minister Fu will also be meeting Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tetsuro Nomura and signing a Memorandum of Cooperation in the Agriculture and Food Sector, as well as meeting Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Tetsuo Saito and signing a Memorandum of Cooperation on Climate Science and Climate Adaptation.

2 Minister Fu is also scheduled to meet with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and Special Advisor to the Japan Prime Minister Masako Mori and Members of the Japanese House of Representatives Shinjiro Koizumi, Yuko Obuchi, Ryosuke Kozuki and Norikazu Suzuki.

3 Minister Fu will visit the Tsurumi River multi-recreational pond, Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park and Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel to learn about Japan’s flood management, water storage and disaster management solutions and experiences.

4 Minister Fu will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, the National Environment Agency and Singapore Food Agency.
